livingart
not many reach their full potential if they did you would need at least 6ft tank they school loosely in small tanks but well in a large tank when smaller they startle easily so need some stopping room
jim r
They are very peaceful and will survive with most fish, like livingart wrote they are very, very skittish and are exellent jumpers.Size up to 36cm.
fishbreeder
thinking of getting some small ones for a tank. the nice fish shop said i can bring them back when they get too big for my tank and get smaller ones again. soo awesome. going to set up a LOVELY tank with a school of them, some neons and some other nice fish. would love a black ghost knife fish. they are awesome. jim r
I would not want to be a neon in that tank as knife fish can reach 50cm.
RochelleMay
Neons not a good idea, You could get some larger tetras. Our first Ghost Knife got to about 30cm and was still growing, he was very placid and didn't eat any fish... but our second Ghost Knife was only maybe 5-6 cm and he would eat anything that could fit in his mouth - a couple baby mollies about 2-3cm they have huge mouths so I made the mistake of the molly not being able to fit in his mouth but I was very wrong . So It does also depend on the fish.
