Caryl Posted March 14, 2009 Report Share Posted March 14, 2009 Too hard to tell from the blurry photos. Are the patches fluffy? If so, it is a fungus. Probably a secondary infection to underneath damage. Are there any places where the fish, if startled or chased, could scrape its sides as it shot through a small gap? phoenix44 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Share Posted March 14, 2009 ok. so do lots of water changes. and add some salt to your water. now you dont want to go crazy and add a lot of salt - just enough to stimulate the growth of the slimy coating that fish have. if you change your water often, it reduces the chances of something nasty getting to your fish. tHEcONCH Posted March 15, 2009 Report Share Posted March 15, 2009 I doesn't matter what is causing those symptoms, the treatment is likely to be the same - do 30% weekly water changes (using aged water or a conditioner like Seachem Prime) and get the water right. 99% of all fish deaths come back to their keepers being too lazy to keep up with regular water changes.
