Adrienne
Well my new filter is not working. Did a clean out today, using the drain plug. Topped it back up, let it prime itself, turned it on and away it went for about 4 minutes. Then nothing. 3 hours later and several attempts - still nothing. I've had to put a cf1200 on the tank tonight using the media from the fx5. Guess its back to the shop with it tomorrow to see what they're going to do but it had better be fast. The cf doesn't filter enough to hold my tank for long!

firenzenz
Your impellor most probably got clogged during the clean and needs a cleanout. Happens to me also. you have to take off the bottom unit to get at the impellor. seems tricky but it's not.

I had just stuck a whole heap of new media in it and some of the chunks were small enough to go through the buckets and get jammed in the impeller, found it sweet as but dropped the impeller and broke it had to get a new one not cheap luckily I had fish the shop wanted.. lol so don't do that

A very kind salesman opened up the motor and sure enough the impellor had a bit of sintered glass in it. He was so polite and good about it, I was really impressed. Cleaned it out and put it back together and its away working. I now have the sintered glass insides pantyhose to stop it ever happening again.
