firefish
I'm considering getting a couple pearl gourami or a couple honey gourami. Do gourami's need still water? or how much water flow can they cope with? Are honey gouramis more hardier than dwarf gouramis? Thanks
k1w1y2k
I have just breed some pearl gourami's and was reccommended this site http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/gourami/ In my tank I'm using an undergravel filter and a 300l/hr filter, and they seem happy. firefish
Thanks for that link. it says: Avoid heavy circulation. I've got an internal fluval 3 in the tank, would that be too strong for them? (either type of gourami)
phoenix44
they like no movement but are perfectly fine with lots of current. its only when breeding that you will need to reduce water flow.
firefish
So the water flow isn't a concern? thats good to hear But are honey gouramis hardy?
phoenix44
sorry dont know much about honey gouramis... pearls and golds and blues will be fine. pearls are slightly more sensitive and timid. Ask Ira about pearls, lol.. seems to have a knack with them from what i hear,

Thanks I am running two external filters with spraybars - so the whole surface of the water is constanly moving - and have no problems at all. I have found that honey gourami's are harder than dwarf's - unless you can find someone that has breed them.
ATC
Pearl Gouramis are awesome and can tolerate a decent current, I have mine in a 200l planted community tank which is setup with an undergravel filter and a bubble wall across the back which creates quite a lot of current. P.S. They may be timid for a start but after awhile they get very tame :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
