angel obsessed
Man, I bought 2 gorgeous little discus today and I havent even had them for 3 hours and Im already obsessed and thinking about getting more!!! What a BEAUTIFUL fish. Ive never had them before but can already picture a massive tank filled with just them! Does anybody know of anyone in chch who breeds/sells discus? Im after some more turquoise blue babies, am hoping to get a pair that will eventually breed some day
Dave+Amy
why stay to Chch breeders? if you want a few it's worth the shipping..more variety up this side of NZ

angel obsessed
thanks for the replies people! Yeh i might actually look into getting some from somewhere other than chch but hoping for some good luck here first lol. I have another question, why is it some discus have black spots on their faces? Like they look a little sick, Ive seen many like this even in petshops yet other types of the same variety are stunningly pure and unblemished in their beauty? Just wondering what is up with that. Disease, old age or bad tank mates?
Discusguru
Pigeon base discus will alway have peppering. It will show up when they are sick, excited, breeding, bad water condition and of course poor quality pigeon or pigeon base cross with patterned discus. ron
majik
I think what youre refering to is what is called "peppering " this is thought to be mutation of the "stress bars " shown in turq /brown based fish breed out in the production of pigon strain. In show fish this is undesirable and can be minimised by light surroundings background etc .HTH
