Guest
Hi guys, I was wondering if you could breed more that 1 type of killie in the same tank?

Guest
I'd really want to try somehting different. I like the smaller plant spawning killies but can't think of anything. I'd like it to be fairly easy that the fry grow fairly fast. I'm going to make a big breeding group of Chocolate Australe. Whats the bigest size group I could make of the Chocolate Australes? Aaron-Betta
Geeze you're eager! You can't breed similar families of fish because they will cross breed. Hybrids are no good. The other thing is, what would you do with heaps of baby fish? When it comes to killies, there isn't a huge market for them in NZ. As for a breeding group, I guess as much as your tank will safely accomidate. But in realitly, (an exaggerated example) what would be the point of say 25 females to two males, producing at least 50 eggs a day, 350 eggs a week, 350 fry to feed in a couple of weeks, minus deaths from pollution etc, you would have around 250 fish to try and re-home. Guest
Yeah I know some fish are simaler like the gold and chocolate australe and they'll cross breed but I thought 2 tottally different species would be alright in the tank? The lfs are really keen on killies as well as they say they can't many of them.
