firefish
I'm planning on getting a school of neons or black neons. I really like the look of the blak neons, but are they more hardy than neons?
Dixon1990
IMO if you get the normal Black neons, not 'Brilliant black', hey are hardier than neons
firefish
Thats good to hear! But whats the diff btwn normal black neons and brilliant black ones?
phoenix44
normal black neons have just the black line through them. the brilliant black ones although sparkely have a blotched black look. they are both cool lille fish and look cool in big numbers. firefish
The ones i've seen have a blue line at about the middle and below that (maybe above too) is black
phoenix44
well that would look quite cool - i suppose blotchy isn't the best most accurate way to describe them
Southerrrngirrl
Go for Black Neons. In my experience they are hardier than the ordinary Neons. I bought a school of 6 over 2 years ago, and still have 5 of them. I bought a school of 10 normal Neons a couple of months ago and only have 3 left. I've never seen or heard of Brilliant Black neons though.. Dixon1990
Good choice, Whenever ive seen these at petsops theres never many (i have heard they die easily) and they are all lump/outof shape. Only ever seen one good batch Now that i have a spare small tank, i might go buy a few normal and a few brilliant and try breed them together to try and get some healthyish brilliants
Luke*
both are wicked in a biiiiig school but black neons are hardier. the reason is neons are the most popular tetras in the world so they are heavily bred in asia, and often inbred. curtur
Definately go for the black neons - way hardier! I have had no luck with neons lately, they all seem to get sick very easy these days, as mentioned above mostly because they are so inbred now.
