kiwipete
Are there any type of plant(s) I could look for that will hang in the tank water? I was thinking of putting something in my small funnel type feeder thing that attaches to the tank via a suction cup. Putting some daltons potting mix or similar in it to supply nutrients to the said plant. I currently have several uprooted plants caught around it and the fish love exploring around it. alanmin4304
Plants that will grow emersed and then submersed would include: Cardamine lyrata, Hydrocotyle leucocephala, Heteranthera zosteraefolia, Ludwigia repens or Ludwigia arcuata (needs strong light)
kiwipete
Thanks Alan. I have no idea what these plants are, but I will find out and see if I can get some.
Caryl
What about baby tears, Bacopa?
alanmin4304
Look them up in the plant section here or plantgeek or tropica. Bacopa might be too stiff in the stem to go hanging. I have grown cardamine and Hydrocotyle in terrariums where they are emersed to submersed or submersed to emersed. Have grown Ludwigia arcuata emersed to submersed in a glasshouse. alanmin4304
The other way to go would be to plant Small Echinodorus species such as Common chain sword (E. quadricostatus) or narrow leafed chain sword E. tenellus) and let the runners drop down into the water. Caryl
I had baby tears as a pot plant a few years ago and I am sure it was hanging down the sides of the pot. Of course that may have been cos it was dying from lack of watering
kiwipete
Thanks for all the suggestions, I will go to some LFS's today and see what they have. I was thinking more of a submerged plant, or at least semi submerged. I want to try something as a feature on one side wall of the tank, sort of try to have plants on the wall? alanmin4304
I found most plants hard to grow with my frogs but that was because of the low light.
