dogmatix
im gonna ask the importer to bring in some of theese plz let me know if your keen so i can get an idea of numbers. If you want to learn more do a search for them at reef central. They might not quite be as good as the almighty streams but i think they will work well untill i can afford my 7095 controller and 2*6000 streams. jetskisteve
going on Rio's reputation I would think twice, still must be a hell of a lot cheaper than steams, oh another well known pump manufacturer is bringing something similar out soon. dogmatix
apparently they are made in a seperate division to the rest of the rio's and are meant to be very reliable, i think ill try my luck with them but out of curiosity who else is possibly bringing one out ? Thx Ben
chimera
roughly what sort of price are they?
lduncan
From what i have read on reefcentral they seem to be more reliable than the usual rios, but people have been extreemely disappointed with the amount of flow they actual put out. Many people opting to replace them after only a few weeks with tunze streams. Layton
Doc Holiday
I've considered using these powerheads myself, Who wouldn't with a flow rate of 690 gallons/hour and only using 8 watts of electricity or 890 gallons/hour using 18 watts and at a cost of about $80. But after reading a few reviews I have changed my mind, reliabilaty leaves something to be desired and flow rate tends to be inconsistant, but worst of all the impellors tend to be quite sloppy causeing alot of rattling especially when stoping and starting on a wavemaker system. lduncan
the streams use 18W at 12,000 L/hr (~3,000 Gal/hr), of course they are nowhere near $80 though. I can say that they are one of the best addtions i've made to my tank. Then again it depends what you are into. Soft corals don't need as much flow, but definately benifit from it. SPS definately need it. Layton
lduncan
They may be a good option for smaller tanks (< 4 foot). At that price they may be worth trying. Layton

Doc Holiday
Can you give me an indication of what the tunze streams are worth here in New Zealand??
lduncan
approx $1200 -$1300 for the big boys dual 6100's with multicontroller. That gives around 24,000 L/hr at full blast. That is the top of the range... currently. (I hear they are going to release higher flow ones soon!) Layton
Doc Holiday
The tunze 6200 pumps out 20 000 l/h that is their current big boy at the moment.
Brianemone
the 6100 sounds a little bigger to me ??? or is my math off
lduncan
6100 are 12,000 L/h each. But there is a kit which comes with two, and a controller for around $1300, together they give 24,000L/h 20,000L/hr in the 6200 is crazy! you'd need an 8 foot tank min for those puppies, (unless you went with no substrate). Brianemone
might put one of them in my nano
jetskisteve
I think the 6100 pump 12000L each=24000 the 6200=20000 each=40000.
Doc Holiday
40 000 l/h would turn my tank volume over 100 times an hour ( and everything else inside it too, lol)
Nicks
I,ve put two streams a 6060 +6080, no controllers just plug in and go. Lost my sand to the back of the tank. One of my best buys, paid $220 each. My tank is L1200 x H720 x W600 and its made a big difference. Do the Rio's come with little hammers to hit them when they jam ???
