Any other ideas? Will it be safe to put fish in?
phoenix44
test the water for the usual stuff... if A.OK then put a guppy in for a day or so... if the guppy swims after that then :bounce: add the other fish! (I must admit I never cycled any of my tanks, just didnt have the time - never lost any fish at all) - NOT that i recommend doing that.... R32GOTMLK
how thick is the layer of gravel you have on the aqua mix? i had the same problem with my 80L tank using the same stuff with only a 2-3 cm layer of gravel and it took about a week to clear but i also had a 600l/h internal filter going

phoenix44
hmm... lfs in chch should do it if you have the time.... p clear is great if you can see particulate matter... b clear is awesome for murky tanks... but if its "greeny" then wait for a phosphate test... A.PROPHECY
if the tanks been set up recently then its probly a bacterial bloom , then b clear will do the trick i rekon , but dont go crazy on adding more fish once the waters clear the next day lol

Dixon1990
If i use a internal filter thats been running through A tank with bluegreen algae(cyano) on another newly setup tank will it transfer across?
ryanjury
Dont know about the cyano.. But if your tank is going green it will be as everyone has pointed out you have added a substrate full of stuff thats good for plants to grow in but you have no plants (apart for algae growing in the water). Have you been leaving the light on? I would probably chuck a heap of plants in and some starter fish get it going. I had massive green water (like you would stick it in a bag and think it was lime juice) due to super high phosphates (caused by crap food) and the fish were all fine breeding etc they don't seem to care.. Dixon1990
Thats what i wanted to hear! (Kinda  ) Will chuck some plants and fish in tonight. For fish, would guppy, or platty or betta females be best to test it?
Adrienne
Looks like the substrate has been stirred up. How longs the filter been running. You might need to open it up and rinse off the filter wool. My cf1200's wool used to clog up with the substrate. As to fish if you have any surplus use those. phoenix44
P Clear dude! its magic stuff... makes all those nasties clump together overnight.... its awesome stuff... :bounce: that's gonna be a sweet setup for plants btw... ryanjury
I think you'll be fine to add fish.. You could probably buy crap and chuck chemicals at it, but I always think the best way to get rid of it is to find the cause and change it. In your case I think there are too many nutrients in the water stick some plants in to use them and maybe cut back on light it wont harm the fish. With my tank I just kept feeding until I ran out of crap food and the green just went away, the fish didn't care it just looked ugly..
