firefish
Over the last week and a half my 3 bronze cories have been breeding Non of them started to darken, so i suspect they were infertile. Then a couple of days ago i noticed that the ones on the glass were dark :bounce: :bounce: The next day they were gone tho (i've got guppies, gbas and cories in the tank) Then yesterday I noticed another spawn and decided to try to raise them. This morning I woke up to find 28 of these : I've brought some decap brine shrimp eggs to feed them with 8) Any advice??
phoenix44
oh wow! that's so cool - ive never seen lille baby cories before! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: brine shrimp is an awesome food for baby fish.... not sure about these guys though - if they act like normal cories, won't you need a food that doesn't swim around the place? lmsmith
I've got gazillions of those little things, my mummies and daddies keep making babies! Microworms and BBS are great food, as well as sinking flakes when they start getting a bit bigger. They also do great on decaps BS, and zucchini. You don't need to feed them for about 3 days until they absorb their yolk sac. Keep the water nice and clean and aerated. Don't stress if some of them die, once they're a month old though, they're pretty hardy and can live in pretty much the same conditions as the parents. Good luck, they're awesome to watch grow!!! firefish
The decap brine shrimp doesn't get hatched, so i'm hopeing that it will sink. In the photo, that little circle thing around their head - is that the egg sac? I'm used to seeing baby gbas, these are tiny in comparison I love watching them - thay are actually quite active, randomly swimming around! Its kinda strange - the other lots that i put into containers i put an airstone in and they didn't hatch, then these i didn't have an airstone in and they hatched :-? phoenix44
yeah that's the egg sac. they will feed off that for a couple of days. the brine shrimp should hatch in brackish water - always works with an airstone in the water everytime i have tried it... doesn't matter as long as it hatched, lol... food is food. firefish
The airstone thing was about hatching the baby cories. I got decapsulated brine shrimp so I don't have to hatch it, feed it straight to the babies

Jatt16
Congratulations Newborn cories sometimes do not feed on decap brineshrimp eggs straight away. When all of the corys egg sacs are gone then you should try feed liquifry(egg-laying), BBS or -- iv tried this once, the yellow yolk in the middle of a boiled egg (fouls the water quickly and should not be kept it in the tank for long). try feeding decap eggs later and its really cool because you can see the brine shrimp eggs in the stomachs of the baby cory. firefish
I've got liquifry for them too, so i'll try a mix of both foods its really cool because you can see the brine shrimp eggs in the stomachs of the baby cory. That sounds a bit creepy, but cool at the same time

lmsmith
Aw!! cute! In another 2 weeks or so they'll get their colour, and stop being spotty and start being bronze! How many have you got to survive?
firefish
I hope i don't miss their transformation! I'm going away in 2 weeks 8) At a guess, maybe 50? Thats bigger than the 1st number cos the parents bred the day after i took these eggs, so i put those eggs in with these guys and thay hatched too
firefish
I still have lots of them, but i'm going on holiday in a couple of days so i'll see how many survive (my mum is going to clean them out twice in 6 days) They've got dorsal fins now But they don't seem to be growing fast - are they a slow growing fish??
