Jaide
I treated the tank with furan 2 and some of the pills plastic coating fell in the tank, betta ate it up before I could retrieve it - now he can't eat and I'm scared he'll suffocate - how do I get it out?? MarkLB
If it were me I think I'd catch the fish in a net and while holding it, still in the net, I'd expose it's mouth and open it with a toothpick and try to dislodge it. Much like 'stripping' a mouthbrooder. HTH
Jaide
I'm not sure how to hold him and expose his mouth - he wriggles around all over the place. Anyway, I think he's swallowed it as he's eating again quite happily - I hope he doesn't have stomach problems later
yeh_buddy
oh no!!! Was it Fluffy? oh gosh i hope he'll b ok. Jaide
No, it was Handsome  It disintegrates?! Thank goodness for that! Have never used Furan2 before so had no idea - have to assume it dissolved in his mouth then - phew! Fluffy isn't eating - I sent you an email about it
yeh_buddy
Yeah i remember soaking a tablet in water after I gave up trying to pry one open (lol) and it became all soft and started to break up so hopefully the same is happening with Handsome :-? I'll keep my fingers crossed. In your last email....hang on. Ok just read it, last one I got was Monday...OMG I am so sorry to hear about Fluffy, I thought he was still able to eat. Im thinking at this stage Furan is probably the best thing to do at this point as it sounds bacterial to me. Gosh i hope very much that Fluffy pulls through this. Keep me updated on the both of them. Finger's crossed!
Jaide
That fish of yours is a monkey! He eats anything it seems, lol. Anyway, he struggled to eat after eating the plastic but it dissolved or he must have managed to get it down as he pigged out later quite happily  He seems completely fine. Yes, hopefully Fluffy will pull through I'll let you know how he goes
yeh_buddy
haha  yes he is a little monkey! Glad to see he's keeping up his monkey-ing around up!lol definately keep me up to date! Oh little fighter bubbies are growing well most of them seem to be white with a sky blue sheen to them?! lol theres one white one that seems to have red fins, so Im finding it very interesting to see what colours they are evolving into!lol Will send you some pictures soon. (When ive got my new camera!!) :bounce: Fingers crossed for Fluffy!
phoenix44
jaime's right.. the capsule is water soluble - so don't worry about the fish (handsome? lol) having eaten it. :bounce: PS - He must be a hog to have eaten that. I have to scare my fighter away from the food cause he eats too much and looks like he will burst.
lmsmith
Oh, I love how they have names, and how other people know them by name. That's so cool!
Jaide
I recently purchased Handsome from yeh_buddy - I asked buddy what his name is and she said it's Handsome, so Handsome he remains (and handsome he is too) There's a pic of him here: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/my-fig ... 33852.html - he's recently become a new daddy and I can't wait to see the pics of the bubbies - they sound gorgeous already - with dad's colouring coming through well. Handsome is fine, I checked him this morning and he's roaring around the tank as usual so thank goodness for dissolvable capsules! I'm learning fast that bettas are little piggies and will eat anything! Fluffy (my red male betta) - so named because he looked like a bit of fluff floating about in the water with his long flowing fins - not very masculine but Fluffy he remains - is terminally ill - I think he's either got Gill disease or cotton mouth - it's hard to tell. I gave him Furan2 yesterday and cranked up the heat a bit - he's still alive this morning at least Not sure how long the Furan will take to work as I've never administered it before and am kicking myself for not treating him with is sooner.
