Bruce
The Hawkes Bay Club is looking at putting on a Fish Display on the Saturday of Labour Weekend (19th October), This will be open to the public. We are also considering (Depending on interest from other clubs) The possibility of running a auction on the saturday night. (Open to all FNZAS affiliated club members) We would like to auction off a minimum of 200 lots (ideally more) and this is where we need the support of other clubs to boost the number of lots to be auction off. We as a club could possibly manage 100-150 lots. If you are interested or know someone who might be pleae pass this on at your next club night (A letter to all clubs will go out in the near future to guage interest). Normally our auctions have "No Reserve" but if you would like to put a reserve on any of the lots then this is acceptable as well. We normally take a 20% commission on all fish sold to cover costs (Venue Hire etc). If you have any comments or suggestions please do not hesitate to post a message here or email me. Thank You Regards /Bruce Also a great opportunity to have a look at the National Aquarium Of New Zealand while you are in Sunny Hawkes Bay http://www.nationalaquarium.co.nz

Sounds good to me. I suspect PNAS will get behind it and I wouldn't be suprised if the NZKA didn't have something to offer on some level too. Keep us posted. Andrew. Bruce
Yes it will be a uncompetitive show. Will keep everyone advised as things take shape Thanks for the feedback Andrew Cheers /Bruce
Benny
so what are you auctioning?
Bruce
What will be auctioned will be decided on close to the time, depends alot on what has been bred by FNZAS members. Will also include plants as well. /Bruce
Caryl
Marlborough could probably send some stuff - plants certainly. Freight across the ditch has gone up though. We have a pot luck lunch tomorrow so I will ask members then.
Ira
How long of a drive is that from Wellington? October is still a long way off, but I'd definitely like to go.

Well worth an overnighter I reckon. A good chance to see the aquarium too... And you could make the slight detour to PN to check out Wet Pets... Maybe Fishroom people could get together for dinner somewhere on the saturday night? Andrew.
Caryl
Marlborough had a pot luck lunch today and decided the fish display and auction would be worth a club trip. We could stay a night or 2 and visit the aquarium as many would like to see it after having heard us talk about it and show the photos from conference. If we have a spare seat we could pick you up on the way through Ira and drop you off on the way home. Members are already thinking about what they could contribute to the auction. Ira
Hey, that's an idea. I wouldn't have a clue where to drive and I kinda doubt my wife would want to go.
Caryl
Depending on available seats, we could pick up others if required. We often do this Ira when heading for conference or exec meetings. Sometimes, when we don't want to take a vehicle on the ferry, we ask someone in Wgtn to pick us up and provide further transport. It is all part of fish keepers helping fellow fish keepers. We also have great fishy conversations on the way and learn lots! If it snows on the way are you willing to shovel?
Ira
Ugh...I've had more than enough shoveling.
Derek
Andrew said Maybe Fishroom people could get together for dinner somewhere on the saturday night? I'd be in for that. Are you bringing the red wine Andrew? Ira I wouldn't be surprised if at least 1 or 2 from the Upper Hutt club were interested in going. If so I'm sure you could get a lift. Another incentive for you to make it to a club night, unless you made it to the last one which I missed. If you follow me. I think the Upper Hutt club is also planning a trip to Napier in August perhaps you could join us for that trip. I haven't heard anything about this trip for a little while, I assume it is still on. Ira
I meant to make it to the last one. I really did, but for some reason I was thinking it was the third thursday of the month instead of 2nd and only realized it when it was too late. Next one! Rob
Tentatively I'd be keen on heading down to Napier and staying a night - meeting up with fellow fish people. Just no Dutch auctions, right Bruce?
Caryl
Good point Rob. No Dutch auctions please Bruce!!

See if you can convince Richard Littin or someone to travel with you. I expect he might be up for a trip by then... > Just no Dutch auctions, right Bruce? You did alright out of the last one though Rob But you're right, they are evil. Andrew.
Bruce
WOW, What a response already NO Dutch Auctions  Those wanting to come up for the weekend will need to start booking accomodation NOW. Labour Weekend is a busy time in the Bay, if you need any information on this please let me know and I will help you out where I can Cheers Bruce Who Mentioned Red Wine???? Labour Weekend is a > busy time in the Bay, if you need any information on this > please let me know and I will help you out where I can It's much too early for me to actually book anything. I have pencilled it into my diary and fully intend to be there but October is just too far away to be 100% sure of anything yet. I figure if I can't find a bed towards the end of September then that'll just be too bad... > Who Mentioned Red Wine???? That may've been Derek. Damn catfish breeders, you can't trust 'em you know... ;-) Andrew.

Bruce
Hi Everyone Just to let everyone know, Fish Display and Auction on the Saturday of Labour Weekend is all go  Does anyone know where the container of tanks etc the FNZAS had a while back is, Somebody mentioned Jan Payne so will start looking there, any other hints would be greatly appreciated A letter will go out to all clubs over the next couple of weeks outlining the weekend Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or require more information Best Regards /Bruce
Derek
John Eastwood may know about the container. I think he mentioned something at one of the more recent conferences about it rotting away on a farm somewhere. I think that's right anyway, assuming you can trust a red wine drinking catfish breeder. Or should that be a red wine drinking breeder of catfish? We talked about it at last nights PNAS committee meeting and there seemed to be some enthusiasm to get behind it where we could. I'm sure a few of us will be attending at the very least. > Does anyone know where the container of tanks etc the FNZAS > had a while back is ... I've asked that question several times and never got a useful answer... > Somebody mentioned Jan Payne so will start looking there I don't expect she has it, but she *may* have an idea on where to start looking. I think the tanks PNAS used when we put on a show back in the mid 90s are stored at Virginea Steads, in Levin. As far as I've been able to find out, the 'container of tanks' is 'up north' somewhere... > A letter will go out to all clubs over the next couple of weeks > outlining the weekend Excellent. We look forward to seeing it. > Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or > require more information While I'm not actually in a position to offer it, I suspect you could use the NZKA stand and tanks if required. We've lent it out to clubs (ie Waikato) in the past for a small fee and the guarantee that anything that gets broken is replaced. Currently it's in Hamilton I think. You'd need to talk to Stuart Lord in Upper Hutt. Waikato club also has some tanks and stands for show purposes I understand. Good luck, Andrew.
