amandamaryrose
Every now and again one neon is swimming around the tank vertical. With his tail in the air and his head down. Swimming up and down about 1cm at a time but around the tank. Is this some kind of weird mating dance or is something wrong. This only happens about once a week or so. Any info would be great. Thanks
MarkLB
Hi and welcome to the forums :bounce: It's not a weird mating dance. How long has this been happening? When does this happen? Is it after feeding? Or random? I've never seen it but I've heard that mid level fish can sometimes get a bit of air in them from gulping food from the surface which makes them swim oddly for while. I'm only guessing mind you

bedazzled
On a more serious note... My neons have done the same thing in the past and usually after feeding so I am going with the air gulping theory, mine just came right over night so perhaps they do need to get rid of some air in their systems
Caryl
I too go for the food being the cause, be it then upsetting the swim bladder or creating too much gas. If it doesn't seem to be related to food then I don't know what it could be since it only does it occasionally.
amandamaryrose
But I will take more notice. I am feeding them flake food plus they nibble on the bottom feeder pellets.
