Fighter babies

:D Hi everyone

This is my first time on a fish forum and I was just wondering if you can give me some advice. I have only been doing this since October.

My brother and I have 6 tanks between us.

We had a male and female fighter that wanted to breed about 4 1/2 months ago so we set up a tank and let them.

we now have about 40 happy healthy babies. they had them pretty much straight away.

At the moment they all look female and some of them have rather large bodies so my question is, is it possible they are all female due to the bodies, should I be able to see extra finnage at this stage or do I need to wait until they are 8 months old.

None of them are fighting, they are not separated or anything as I heard as long as you dont move them or introduce any new ones they could live together quite happily. Is it possible that the conditions of the water could make them all female, as I am told this is the case with gouramis and after all they are both labyrinth fish?

Thanks for your help. I look forward to hearing from you.

ive read that temperature and ph levels in the breeding tank can have a substantial effect on what sex the fry turn out to be so id say it is possible to have all fems but what id do is seperate the fish into jars and float the jars in a heated tank for some reason this helps fighters fins to grow faster

But then you wont be able to have them group swimming any more.

Other than for the females.

If you were to feed the babies so that they all went down one end,

then put the TV remote into the tank at the other end,

all the males will tear down there,

BUT,

be quick to put in your divider,

because when the females realize what is happening,

they will come down to try and take it of them.
