Charlie
I have 2 royals and have moved them into my reo tank, So its a 150 Liters with a fluval 4 and a internal running on the tank so lots of filtration. I have 4 L114 aswell (all babys) I know that royals need wood for their digestion. I hate the tanning in the water though, how do i remove it? HummingBird
There are some resins available like BioChem Zorb that will remove tannins from the water, but apart from that the simplest and cheapest way is just water changes. Different pieces of driftwood leech different amounts of tannins, a lot of them don't leech at all, so maybe you could hunt around for a pre-sunken one that's proven it doesn't leech? David R
Find some old bits of wood that have been in a tank for long enough to leech out most of the tannins (not tannings). You could also run active carbon in the filter.
Simian
Boil the snot out of the wood for 20 mins, change water repeat. 90% of the tannins will be gone easy if its small, hard if big
