David R
Don't think that a high price makes them go to a good home. Look at how many arowanas, fire eels, knife fish, beardies etc end up in the hands of unsuspecting/uneducated people....
Ant N
Good to hear from you, Freshwest. Do you have photos of the new setup? What's in the big tank now? Glad to see your girls are thriving. (hope you have got a chance to shoot a few arrows with this weather!)
freshwest
All good Ant N . Hoping to get up to the club this Sunday. Been awhile so wont be pretty. How those babies going. I hear what your saying David. I guess the situation to avoid is were a LFS has a tank full of cheep Fronts and an inexperience fish keeper comes along and buys one or two to go in there community c/tank without doing there homework. I'm not sure how its any worse than people buying jags/oscars etc for small tanks, but again I don't think price will help that. The only thing that will stop that is educated LFS staff, and breeders not selling to big chain-stores with [generally] clueless staff. I guess people are still a bit precious about them because they're still "new".
Ant N
Due to a slight change of interest and a more serious cash shortfall I am thinking of moving on my fronnies , only to suitable home and prefer all 10 to go together $

illusionz_NZ
wow could not believe my eyes yesterday when i saw eggs in one of my bigger fronts mouth........then today another of the bigger females is holding. just curious to know how long fronts hold for before people take them out. (not expecting them to hold full term but fingers crossed) I would like to take them out when the babies have a head and tail and rest egg sack. would 10 days be too early for these guys? The process has started. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! 8)

illusionz_NZ
Well today I thought i would have a fiddle and make my own tumbler contraption........ wee experiment going on here. I stripped one front and got 18 eggs which are now tumbling (first time trying tumbling) and have left the other front in tank holding just out of curiosity to see if she will hold naturally for 10 days. worth a go. heres hoping!!!!!!!!!!! illusionz_NZ
just realized I did not get all the eggs out of her mouth......she still got a few, had a small shock thinking 'what? another one holding?' but nah she can stay there with the other one. boy what i mish taking her out. holding her trying not to get jabbed by her sharp fins, stuck my toothpick in her mouth to open it, she squirmed and clamped down on the toothpick!! strong fish allright. gonna be interesting when they fully grown. I assume the eggs are fertalized......can see a small dot in each egg, some are oblong. All still looking good
