Guest
Hi guys. I currently have some fighter fry that were laid (if that makes sense. The parents spawned 3 weeeks ago). Any way I was wondering how long until they get they're colour and I can see what sort of fins they have. The male was a red CT and the female a CT X VT with red fins if that makes any difference. Adrienne
my yellows are coming up 6 weeks and I have been able to see yellow in the tails of the bigger ones 1-1.5cm for about 10 days. if yours are darker you should be able to see them colouring very soon. Guest
They are fairly dark (deffinately not white). Also what size should they be at 3 weeks.
Adrienne
Too hard to tell, depends on how many in the spawn, what you are feeding, what sized tank they are in, what sort of conditions with regards to water. All grow at different rates as I said in my own post last night, some hardly ever grow. You want the biggest and best to keep as your own breeders. fish_fingers
Amen to that Adodge......with all that you also have the 'pecking order', which I have seen defined at a very early age. Guess it's fair to say that they can also change colour as they mature as many of mine have done so.... very exciting stuff.
Adrienne
yep, and females won't always colour up completely until they have bred although they do improve when a males around.
Guest
Thats the thing I love about fighters and livebearers you never know what colours your going to get. At the moment their are 3 sizes big ones, smaller ones and a few really big ones so I suppose time will tell. I'm also feeding 2-4 times a day. Liquidfry for egg layers and now microworms. fish_fingers
Good work Cam, another good food is the decap brine that Blue and Kim supply..... still got over half of mine left from earlier in the year.... feed less and a great source of protien. Keep up the good work, and of course we all expect photos when they get older.
alanmin4304
They will do better if you seperate them out by size.
