chimera
Here's the left bommie complete, probably just be adding small rocks here and there to cover up the reefrack. The powerhead shown is only temporary until the closed loops are complete!!! Here's a shot zoomed out, right side rocks haven't been structured yet:

chimera
no new pic's,... yet! not found anemone,... yet! anemone has moved to other side of rocks he was on. looks happy as and was chowing down some seafood mix yesterday. he's about twice the size of when I got him (only because he's "stretched out" of course)
Brianemone
so hes out in the open now?

Pies
Not all clowns will live in all Anemones. Check out Rober Fenners book or online at wwm to find out if the clowns you have will live in the Anemone you own. Pies
chimera
Clowns have finally gone nuts in the Anemone Here's some pic's of the comb I designed, got cut, molded and installed!!! Luckily I got 2 made coz I broke the first trying to bend it without letting the heat gun do it's job first... :-? Comb lasercut (free plug: North Shore Laser = great service!) Paper ripped off, heat gun out and molded into shape: and finally, the comb installed in the overflow: The last thing I have to do is create a "lid" for it which will essentially be a piece of tinted perspex that will be siliconed on top to stop algae growing in the overflow. The whole unit is easily removable - very happy with it.
jetskisteve
he he leave the paper on the lid its kinda waxed anyway

Pies
Good job, maybee i'll do that with mine too insited of one sold part? How close the the surface is your water level?
chimera
I made the comb "slots" about 15mm high to compensate for anything blocking up half the comb. the water sits about 5mm up the comb so a good 10mm to spare. the water level sits about 25mm below the top of the glass. Jf2003
Have you got any more pics to share Chimera?? Interested to see how things are settling in. cheers
chimera
Not yet dude. Have been flat out with other stuff (family mainly!!!) The items I need to do are: - Container for RODI topup water - Lowering right hand side reef rack - New spray bar under the tank with holes that point down, forward and up - More live rock on reef rack and refugium - Finishing hooking up the SCWD's on the closed loops - Install laundry tub and plumb waste between refug and sump - Finish tank-to-tank plumbing between refug and sump (with ball valve) - Install new Iwaki (when it turns up!) I've put some sand in the refugium (thanks for JSS for selling some to me) and tried to get hold of Ivan several times about his live sand but he never returned my call. If anyone else in Auckland has some live sand, I'm interested! Cheers.
Brianemone
chimera, when its all done put up a pic like this how big is this room
Pies
Brian read the thread of RC is tells you all of his specs, and pics of every stage of the planning and design. Its a nice project with some good ideas but the last time I saw pics of the actual tank it looked pretty average, esp compared to someone like JetSkiSteves or Alois's. Brianemone
i wish i had that sort of room to spare to build that sort of setup (and the money to fill in that space with equiptment i dint get through to the finished product but from this end it looks like hes done a really good job and planned it out really well. i havent actually seen reefs tank, but steves tank is very simple in comparason (room taken up and equiptment) but there's no doubt as to the results, just out of interest from what you can see in that pic what do you guys run
Pies
I use: Calcium Reactor Skimmer Sump Closed Loops Kalkwasser Stirer MH Lights with remote ballists RODI Water and resivour All I see that I don't use/need is a chiller and an exaust for the heat from his lights (Which he pumps through the wall to heat anther room. Pies
chimera
I use the same (although calcium reactor not hooked up yet) + refugium and temperature controller (Pies does too but didnt list this ) I also run a Nitratereductor and a chiller (although the chiller aint hooked up either being winter and all!) Also, I got a new pump for the closed loop (5,500l/hr) so I might not need to replace the spray bar if the force is sufficient!
lduncan
Any updates? Photo's? Layton
chimera
no photo's yet. will get some later this weekend. i've extended the spray bar and reduced the height of the right hand reef rack by about an inch. the new pump was faulty so had to plumb it back to the eheim. will plumb it up properly for the new pump when it's replaced. i haven't done the closed loops coz im still trying to work out the fittings for the outlets/rotating flow nozzles (need a 20mm thread going into a 15mm pipe on 45 degree bend! do something tomorrow hopefully) Got a heap more live rock which is temporarily in the fuge. this will go in the main tank but needs aquascaping (= time & patience which im lacking right now) but if all goes well, should be complete by sunday night. good news is the new iwaki is being fedex'd right now. should be here by tuesday. fingers crossed its the right one THIS time
lduncan
You haven't had much luck with those pumps. Was that the replacement they sent which was faulty? Layton
