Perpin
Hi everyone Name is Michelle. I posted and introduction in the intro section. I am from South Africa and breed Leopard gecko's (Bell albino's, Tremper albino's, Super Hypo Tangerines, Patternless, Blizzards and normals). My family and I are planning on moving to NZ by the end of the year and I would like to know if Leopard gecko's are readily available in NZ? Are you allowed to keep and breed them at all? I hear that the laws are quite strict over there! If you are allowed them can someone give me info on where in NZ to buy them or someone I could contact via email or a website with more info. Sorry about all the questions! I really appreciate you taking the time to read this and look forward to hearing from you. Regards Michelle

I would be happy to look after them till you get here (hint hint) As an allowed species you are supposed to be able to bring them in. Perpin
At least I will have my photos to look at! Seriously though, I will just have to make do with putting my energy into what you guys do have available. Ironically, the area in SA that I live in, I am not allowed to have bearded dragons! Will think about getting one or two of those once I have settled.

Navarre
Funny isnt it. That they are an allowed and recognised organism and in that are technically allowed to be brought into the country. Just like the Iguanas and lace monitors and shingle backs etc. But that MAF wont issue permits to bring any in but if they are purchased here then its ok, sorta. Didnt mean to stir things up but .... Also not to hijack this thread I have to say Perpin that they are very very nice photos of very very nice geckos. You can try I guess but good luck. Thats why I was lmao in the first post. I have just applied for a permit to import recognised species and was declined due to the fact that "NO reptile permits will be issued to a private person" so once again good luck. Maybe you could ask one of the Zoo holders to see about bringing your guys in. There are a couple who lurk around here. All the Best Navarre
Rebecca
Welcome, I love your photos. We do have some lovely natives here but a lot different from what you have. It'll be great to have someone with experience in keeping and breeding them and I'm sure you'll be getting hit with a few questions. At least you'll have contact with some fellow enthusiasts before you get here. Rebecca

Varanophile
yes H,doesn`t it make you feel like we live in an almost reptilian vacum? as i read in Reptile World Australia, "Western Australia is known as being behind the other Australian States in terms of its Herpetological Laws, and does rate as perhaps the worst place in the world in terms of the hobby- with the exception of the draconian policies of New Zealand " LOL....
