BlueMoon
will they polute your water if left in the tank? I read on a site that they don't, can anyone else shed some light? Cheers
Barrie
I feed BBS twice a day and do 10 to 20% water changes weekly. There are alway shells in my water and other than looking not the best, they dont seem to do too much harm. When they get a bit much, I attach a external filter and get rid of most that way
jayci
The only thing That I have heard about the shells is. If the fry eat them they may become stuck in the intestines, causing death.
tHEcONCH
I don't think they create much polution at all - they don't seem to rot very quickly, which suggests that they can't release much in the way of organic compounds. That said, I try to reduce they amount that go in the tank by decanting them off the top, but I don't worry too much if a few get in there anyway.
