New to Guppies? Not sure what a Gravid spot is?

Hi All.

the "GRAVID" spot on the FEMALE livebearers is actually the "Peritoneal Wall" and located as shown in the above picture.

As pregnancy progresses the spot increases in size.

Just before delivery you will even be able to see the eyes of the unborn fry within the stomach of the female, through the Gravid Spot.

By watching the development of newly born Guppy's, or other Live Bearers, you can see this spot developing as well as their normal growth.

It is by noticing this spot that you can quickly remove any fry with no spot as they are invariably males.
