wasp
What everybody else said but if they are sandy a bucket of water for 24 hours will allow them to spit most of it out. Do not overcook they can get tough. Done right they are one of natures real delicacies. For supremo taste, soon as they are open shell them, and toss in some hot garlic butter then serve. nick777
I cooked them with some sauteed onions, butter, pepper flakes and some white wine. The juice was brilliantly delicious but we had to throw all the tuatua because they became sand gums...lol... ..did I mention the juice was nice? !!
