PH Problem

i have just tested my water in my community tank and it has a ph of around 8 to 8.5. how do i lower it. I also tested the ammonia and that was 0. i tested just after my weekly 20% water change. I would like to get it down to around 7, any suggestions.

also i have been getting my water straight from the garden hose and when i tested that it had a ph of 8 to 8.5. The guys at the lfs said the hose would be ok but the ph level looks a bit off. do i have to get a ro/di unit to solve the problem.

That is pretty high, what type of fish are you keeping and are you having any problems with them?

Peat would be the best and most cost effective way of trying to bring your ph down add it to your filter, that or you could add some driftwood etc.. Or just keep africans as your water would be awesome for them.
