minchton
About 3 weeks ago I came out in the morning to find my cichlid tank had turned belly up and all my fish were floating on the top dead. Being in the middle of selling my house I decided not to do anything with the tank, cleaned out the dead fish, and just switched everything off, filter, heater, airline etc. Today I finally got around to emptying the tank and was gaily syphoning the water out when to my surprise I saw a giant Danio swimming around. As the water got lower I found 1 adult electric Yellow, 2 young juveniles and 2 giant Danios. It amazes me that the fish could have survived this length of time with no heating and without any food for the time. They are now comfortably swimming in a new tank with other cichlids. Adrienne
I found something similar today but in the bottom of my cannister filter. About 3 weeks ago I sold off my guppies and moved my filter to another tank. Last Monday I closed down the tank and tipped most of the water out of the filter. Today I went to wash it out and in the bottom were 10 young guppies. They must have been in there for ages and are perfectly happy and healthy. (Currently swimming around the bristlenose tank). Naz_Nomad
So you'll be selling off your guppies again then Adodge? Didn't it take you an age to pass them on last time?
Adrienne
No, the guppies (51 of them), all went in one hit. It was the 130 odd kribs that took a while to go  I'll keep hold of these guppies for a while, they appear to be all female at this stage. Mind you I kept a pair of kribs as well Doesn't matter - I have three spare tanks at the moment
