mumzy50
I brought two full grown red ear turtles two days ago. When cleaning i noticed white worms swimming in tank, they are about two inches in size and smaller as thin as a hair and swim in a wigling motion turtles healthy.Does any one know what these are, and how to get rid of them. Thanks

alanmin4304
It sounds like tubifex worms that I get in my tanks from feeding oxygen weed from the river.
Faran
Yup, tubifex worms. There's an article in this months Aquarium World that says they're Planaria but I'm highly dubious as I did a science experiment once in my wee years and they're definitely different. alanmin4304
You can get planaria as well but they don't fit the description given. My turtles eat whiteworms but are not very interested in tubifex

Caryl
Blue if you would like to do an article on Tubifex worms I would appreciate it. Not sure why you think the worms in the article are not planaria considering it was an article about them! It is possible that sometimes white worms found in an aquarium are not planaria but the ones in the article were.
