Drifty
lol not suprosed if you went from 54w to 150, not a true comparison of t5 v mh though
reef
Also agree not a fair comparison. you must have not enough light in the first place,
wilson
i did have enough light corals were growing and some xenia was pulsing - i have 3 types of xenia and about 4 colonies of the normal variety
reef
Your improvement is a result of more light not metal halide.
Fmxmatt
That still doesn't mean there wasn't enough light with the T5's
Sapphire
Forgive me if this is a stupid question but when you increased the light that much did you need to acclimatise the corals to it?
reef
hat still doesn't mean there wasn't enough light with the T5's yes it could, as why would wilsons corals do better with metal halides vs t5s, Metal halides dont make coral come out more. he only had 54w. pretty low lighting levels. 54w is the same as 1 x4ft t5 bulb, that is not enough lighting. no wonder the coral opened more with metal halides. forgive me if this is a stupid question but when you increased the light that much did you need to acclimatise the corals to it? Not a stupid question. hobbyist always make this mistake. yes, you should raise the lights and lower them over a week or so. or you can burn the corals.
