Featured Replies

 I know this is going to sound dumb to you guys but how do you cycle a tank? {oh lets say a 200 lt one full of fish and plants has pump, heater}.I havent a clue were to start and have been left one not even sure how many fish but there are heaps more than 20 some small some pretty big I need some help

if it already has fish and has been established for a while, its already cycled. best indication is "do the fish look happy" - are they swimming around and gills moving at a smooth rate, dont look they are 'gasping' for breath, arent just sitting still looking like they're about to die! btw, its not a dumb question if you dont know the answer! gotta start learning somewhere :)

Cycling is for new tanks only. It refers to the gradual build-up of bacteria in the filters that convert fish waste to good stuff.

There is a fish club in Dunedin. Have you considered joining? They meet 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7pm at the Pet Warehouse, cnr Strafford and Manse Sts.
