Help and advise needed

my tank is 2ft and currently looks dirty - all tests are fine - have added acu-clear 2 times and still not coming clear with the 24 hours suggested - temp is 23. Been to Hollywood fish farm and they have run out of ideas. When I look at the water taken out of the tank it looks clean - could this be algae - have put in carbon and this has not cleared this up and I have no idea if I should add an algae treatment when using acu-clear - It is a tea colour. Have taken out driftwood as I though it was tannins leaching but this has still not cleared up after several water changes - It looks slightly clean after a water change - last one was 50% before I started the acu-clear but gets dark and dirty looking again.

Please help - not sure what I should do next.

Just to update all - glass is clean and tank has existed for about 3 years only had problems since I added a heater and been on holiday tank has had light on more often - could this be the cause

I would just wait.

could be a small algael bloom.

wait a weeka and see what happens

I agree.

If the tank is new it's common to get all sorts of algae, diatoms, bacteria growing in the water. Mostly harmless and they go away with time.

Keep up the water changes and let things settle down for a few weeks and see what happens.

Cheers

Ian

Here's another silly suggestion...

Have you added fertiliser to the substrate at all? I used the JBL balls things for a while in my small tank and they stain the water like buggery, so I guess that other fertilsers will too if they are able to leech into the water.

Carbon won't help - all this does is remove medications/chemicals from your water and is of dubious value at other times.

Please don't go adding chemicals to your tank unless you know the precise reason for any problem. Adding the wrong dose, the wrong chemical or useless chemicals will just add to pollution in the tank and could cause your fish and plants to suffer.
