Fmxmatt
Looking at setting up a single pump flow system but aren't too sure about what pumps are good and which should be avoided. My tank is 350l so would like something around the 8500lph mark, perhaps with adjustable flow rate? Can anyone suggest something? Cheers
HaNs
Totally depends on budget! Could spend from $150 to well over $400 on a pump Whats your budget? Iv been told eheim pumps are good. Personally ill be using 2 Resun sp-6000 pumps in my 375L tank Why not use dual pumps? So if ones has problems you have a back up
Fmxmatt
Will spend up to $500 if required Could look at 2, restriction is fitting them both into a box 15cm x 20cm
jolliolli
I run an eheim pump much smaller capacity than what you're after but i have been pretty happy with it, the noise is pretty quiet, i think thats something you want to consider if you're going to have such a large volume of water running through one pump. Fmxmatt
whats the rating on it? I could go with a 6500lph but i'm not sure I'd want to go any less than that
jolliolli
mine a eheim 1260. does 2400Lph.. so not as much as you want..
Fmxmatt
Ur finding the eheim a pretty good unit tho? And did you get it through John?
Drifty
I use a laguna 6 and 7, happy with both of them althought not quite the liter rate your after
Fmxmatt
Drifty, where did u get those from? The laguna website has a "max-flo" power pump, which the way its designed would be perfect for what I want to do!
jolliolli
Already had it from when i bought my existing setup. Eheims tend to be pretty expensive compared to other brands but from what i've read they tend to be reliable and quiet compared to some of the cheaper brands. i've heard good things about the lagunas too

Caryl
I have a Laguna pump in my pond and got it from The Water Garden in Blenheim Rd.
RTBS
I use one of these PondMate PM18000P 18000lph 18000 lph at 0m head. Might be overkill.
wasp
This is for flow, or sump return? If it is sump return you want something reasonable quality such as an Eheim or Laguna (among others). Eheim more expensive, but also a better pump, than Laguna. If it is for flow wouldn't you be better with more than one pump, perhaps a couple of streams? In a 350 litre tank they would still perform well without a controller. Or if you don't want that much flow some nano streams. Or you could if you wish go cheap & get a few of those 20 buck no name type pumps, if you used several, and one failed at some point, the others will still be working so no harm would be done. Fmxmatt
It's just for flow. I'm having a few problems with the nanostreams i've already got and after thinking about it, I like the idea of less plugs. Also the way I plan on setting up the pipes would allow much more manipulation of flow and I'm not as restricted (unless of course the single pump craps itself)
reef
laguna 7 or eheim, good pumps, would not worry about the cheap return pumps. If you are having problems with the nanos take them back to the shop as they will replace them.
Fmxmatt
No, not problems with their function, problems with positioning them in a way that works with the bowfront tank. I'll go hunt for a Laguna pump today... though most places prob aren't open
