curviceps Posted December 26, 2007 Report Share Posted December 26, 2007 I usually use a airflow control valve with two outlets (or more) so that I can adjust the flow of air by leaking out of the second outlet. it is not necessary to have too high an airflow, and it is useful to be able to adjust it, eg decrease it somewhat when there are new free-swimmers, etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Lani Posted January 28, 2008 Report Share Posted January 28, 2008 I have a question re sponge filters. Am using one in a small planted pond feature, about 38 litres with 3 young Sunset Minnows. Should the air be forcing water to bubble out of the air pipe and then be returned to the pond, i.e. it is now filtered 'clean'? water. me love fishy Posted January 29, 2008 Report Share Posted January 29, 2008 you could submerge it slightly like Caryl does with hers and just have it rippling the surface which is enough disturbance, that might cut back the noise.
