noisy sponge filter

Slightly Blue Dalmation

Recommended Posts

I usually use a airflow control valve with two outlets (or more) so that I can adjust the flow of air by leaking out of the second outlet. it is not necessary to have too high an airflow, and it is useful to be able to adjust it, eg decrease it somewhat when there are new free-swimmers, etc.

I have a question re sponge filters. Am using one in a small planted pond feature, about 38 litres with 3 young Sunset Minnows.

Should the air be forcing water to bubble out of the air pipe and then be returned to the pond, i.e. it is now filtered 'clean'? water. Also, how high above surface water level should the outlet pipe be?
