bulldogod
Im intested in bidding on this but stand doesnt look very strong and that much water in tank must weigh a bit, Auction number 130612498
HaNs
Depending on the wood and the joints, it could be fine Id rather have a over built stand
Warren
Wouldn't touch it. If you can kick the base as hard as you can and it collapses then it's no good. I could easily break this stand with my foot. The force on the stand in a small earthquake will apply more force to the stand than I can with my foot - go figure if you think it's ok... Ianab
Hard to tell from a picture, but it looks a bit short of bracing for that size tank. It's going to be holding up ~300kg of weight. It will probably support that, but it's earthquake or someone bumping into it thats the problem. A sheet of plywood screwed and glued to the back and sides would make it about 10 times stronger though. Cheers Ian
Ira
2X4s are only a couple bucks a meter, a pack of big screws maybe $15 and new paint like $20. There's nothing wrong with the stand those and a weekend couldn't fix.
Ira
Oh, yeah, plywood would be good too. Put some plywood around it, a few bracing 2X4s under it and then you could put some shelves for all your fish food and stuff.
Warren
But as it is it's no good - which was the question...
Aquarium Dude
I'm no expert but I wouldnt touch it with a barge pole... (it might break) It doesnt look as though is got any angle bracing, so it might just fall over sideways...
