Dixon1990
What Filter media should i used for my fluval 404. At the moment it has 2 trays full of ceramic noodles and the 2 sponge pads. Should i put filter wool in the other trays or something else?
Ira
I prefer not to use filter wool at all because it clogs up fairly quickly. Put more bio media in the others or whatever. I have handfuls of crushed oyster shell.
Caryl
Fill it with ceramic noodles. I've got Siporax and the Eheim stuff in mine. Prefer the Siporax as, on the rare occasion I clean out the filter, it is bigger so quicker and easier to clean (and doesn't disappear down the plughole). Caryl
Who knows where it is cheapest? Do some ringing or search the Net. May be some on Trademe at the moment. I got my Siporax at a fraction of the new cost when the Hawkes Bay Club had a lot to sell many years ago. No idea where my bag of Eheim stuff came from. I think it was given to me. Still half a bag left so handy to throw into internal filters as required. No price on it and i have no idea how old it is.
