imsweet
Was at wet pets (finally) on the weekend. Just looking for a touch of colour for my tank. Nothing interested me so my second choice was an albino catfish. Hubby found one and called me over, *Yikes* $95 for an albino lung fish. We admired it then left. 1st time i've seen one and can say it almost looked like a baby axolotyl. So i came home and traded a friend some guppies for a couple of bristlenoses.
David R
Yup we get shafted for pricing of bichirs over here!! BTW they're not actually lungfish, they are Polypterus. I wonder if thats enough to go them for misleading advertising.....
jimbob
haha yeah, the albino birchirs do look like axolotls. not my thing. saw them at the shop but then bought my ornate for only a few $$ more. thats a cool fish... grows too fast though, worried it will take a fancy to my tasty looking little discus... David R
Should be OK if the discus are big enough, their shape makes them difficult for a fish to swallow. I'd be more worried about the large amount of waste from a big ornate making the water bad for the discus.
Silvia-15
lol, mine ate a tyre track for dinner.... so i got another one... and the ornates ate it again grrrrr.... expensive
Duncan7
My ornate will try and eat nearly anything, chases the 15cm geo around the tank and tries to get him. He wasnt scared to have a go at the foot long texas cichild either. Although thats probably because the texas wouldnt leave him alone. Silvia-15
WELL, the first one was a bit bigger than the ornates, then the ornates out grew it.... 2nd one was about the same length... the present one is bout 1.5 times bigger... Duncan7
He will have a go, i had a 6 inch senegal that had a go at a 12 inch fire eel. And also lost 5cm silver dollars, a resonable size, cause they are nearly completely round, to a 4-5 inch little delhezi. You feeding them enough food man? Silvia-15
okay, they are about 12cm i feed 3 clicks of discus pellets every morning, 1 click in the afternoon, 2 blocks of bloodworms and a couple bits of turtle feed... should be plenty..... Duncan7
Beef heart and some prawn FTW
David R
Yup, forget the discus stuff, if you're going to feed pellets use the Hikari sinking carnivore pellets. Beef heart and shrimp are good, and the eel will love it too.
