Fmxmatt
Heyas Just had a thought. Eventually once my rock which is cooking is ready to go, i'll have a fair bit of rock in the tank, some almost to the top of the waterline. Just occured to me that a water change will expose some of that rock to the air and kill off any coralline (when it finally develops!) Obviously wouldn't have corals that high. Is it just something that happens or do I need to rethink about the extra rock going in? Cheers
tHEcONCH
So long as it doesn't 'cook' under the lights, there is no problem (same goes for exposed coral).
fish-unit
exposing rock covered in coralline to air does not kill it, I switch rocks between my tanks all the time that are thick with corraline and havent had any die off
Fmxmatt
Ahh ok cool. Lights always off during water changes so should be all good Cheers

Fmxmatt
Actually Reef, it was a pic of your setup that made me ponder how you do it since you had a few SPS nearly at the top of the tank. I figured that you probably did ur water changes thru ur sump, guess not
Ira
I found that my coraline always died when it was exposed during a water change.
