snookie
Any way of sexing them ?
Afrikan
The male is bigger and alot deeper in the body, both have whispy long dorsal fins, his is a wee bit more so than hers. He has also a pronounced forehead as he matures and even tho the species is rather oval shaped, she is more so than him when they mature as he deepens in body. The pic you sent me of one snookie is a female, are you able to get a shot of the other one?
snookie
they look fairly similar as each other apart from one being larger ,im becoming a cichlidphile ! it creeps on you with out realising 2x Chocs , 2xUaru ,1 xBlue dempsey
Afrikan
It could be just a larger female... hard to say unless both fish seen 8) Cichlids are addictive
snookie
at what size would the lump develop on the males head ?,
Afrikan
They take a while to mature physically as in get to that stage... at least 20cm mark with our boy... As he is getting older the head is becoming more pronounced. The deepness in the body is a key factor.
