reef
All Deltec mce 500, mce600 have the anti-vibration pumps, other than the units purchased last year, anti-vibration kits can be supplied free for skimmers that dont have them. just check with the retailer you got the skimmer from. Fmxmatt
That box was for me - you do have my pump in your 600! LOL! Do I really need the anti vibration thing if it doesn't have it? I dont know if I can be bothered pulling it apart when it doesn't make much noise at all (Only a hum from the pump working, wee bit louder than my Nanostreams and significantly quieter than the factory pump that came with the tank) Reef, should I change it to the 2 oclock position? I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. It has the 2 pin German plug, Ja?
Fmxmatt
Not anymore, I rewired it with a 3 pin NZL plug I think I'll just leave it but ask John about it next time I'm in. Might look at getting a replacement pump for backup anyway
chimera
should I change it to the 2 oclock position? yes
Fmxmatt
to put it in perspective, at 2oclock, u can hear the noise of the air coming from the airhose over the noise of the pump
reef
Reef, should I change it to the 2 oclock position? Try it about the 1 oclock postion, i found that on the small skimmers they work better that way. Do I really need the anti vibration thing No, if it is quite then no problem, it most likely has the anti vibration pump by looking at the photo. you can tell by looking at the side of the skimmer cup you will see that the plastic slot that is not flush at the top of the skimmer. this is because the plastic feet on the skimmer will push up the plastic slot by 2mm. wasp
Love to see that crud getting sucked out of the tank . Syphoning the bottom is also a good plan while rock is curing.

Ahk, sorry for my mistake. Now i think about it, it may have been the mce300 that was around 5 hundy.....
slappers
Aquarium starting up : 1 ampoule per 60 litres + 1 ampoule for the filter. i put nine of these in 8 days ago
Fmxmatt
Oh, I thought that was for aquariums without uncured rock, I.e kickstart the bacteria? I'm happy to add the rest for 1 - 60l, but I didn't think I'd need to?
reef
just add 1 amp every week for a month. should give you plenty of bacteria. Your tank is cured so this will just boost the bacteria you have,
