ctsniper86
I think they're breeding in my comunity, or spawning at least. I believe i have 1 male and 3 females, two are a larger size. He has a very orange nose and fins and chases the 2 larger females around the tank, and the other barbs follow them like a bad smell. Sometimes they sort of stop and shake next to each other down near the bottom of the tank, and then the other barbs shoot forward and sort of like nip at the gravel or plant in the area. Are they spawing? Should I put them in a tank alone? I read that they spawn in the mornings
Caryl
Not only are they spawning but they will also be eating the eggs as fast as they can  If you want to raise fry you will need a separate spawning tank with a grid or something for the eggs to fall through out of harm's way
DutchKiwiCowboy2
I have just succeded in breeding my first Tiger Barbs. I had the parents seperated in my breeding tank which I had put a layer of marbles in the bottem. They spawned in the morning (about 4 weeks ago)and I took the parents out again later that day. The eggs changed colour over the next couple of day but after a week I hadn't seen any movement whatsoever. I gave up and turned the tank off. When my wife was cleaning the tank last week I noticed that there was something moving!!!! FRY! Unfortunately she had already thrown out two buckets of water. I now have about 15-20 healthy fry that are starting to grow very quickly. I think the only reason any suvived during those first few weeks was because I had thown in a little sprinkle of fry food that might have encouraged some infusoria growth. Sorry about the long rant.
