Just seeing what experiences ya'll have had?

the nets that hang on the side ov ya tank are real good fry can never escape

unlike those plastic ones lol fry always manage to slip threw

I make my own for breeding , that way i can give the fish a LOT more room , give it a go its fun and the fish will love you for it , the ones you buy are ok for growing fry for the first week or two thats about it.

what about for hatching eggs themselves, do they get enough water flow over them? do you put the parents in with them or does that stress them too much?

for egg scatters the eggs fall right through for liver bears the fry swimm through and the parents can't get them...works very well

are you talking about the plastic ones with a v shaped part in the bottom? I have a basic rectangular net with one compartment.

with the net ones i just add a air stone

they look like they provide great water flow... now there's a new get rich quick scheme! I'll add that to my list that includes figuring out how to breed dwarf loaches!!!

Are those suctions pads on them or diamantes?!!

Billaney. Where do you get the mesh from. I would like to put some on the bottom of the tank for danio breeding.

I personally don't like the hang-on-the-side net breeders for raising fry at least because i found the fry would get squished between the hard plastic frame and the net.

I prefer the floating plastic traps like this

But i modify them by cutting away the whole floor and glueing the little grill plate onto the base. It means the adult fish has an extra inch of water space to swim and i never used the dividing plate either.

I also filedthe slots so they were wider on the traps too as i found that some of my swordtail fry were too big and fat to fall through even when newborn.

I have got 6 of these traps now. 2 original, 2 modified with original slots and 2 with widened slots. And have no complaints with them except when my girls jump out. :evil:

i got the mess from Mico metels in petone but would think other places would have the same or similar

Hmm... does this mean I will have to buy lots of chocolate until I get the right ones?? Sounds good to me!
