stargazer
I just got a bristlenose he's about 8cm long, and 1 pleco. I have driftwood in the tank so they can hide and have a nibble, the bn don't seem to want to hide. At the present time there still is enough alge for a couple of days. after that I got algea wafers for them. Is there anything else I need to do or need to know? Ianab
Sounds good.. both will eat the algae wafers. But try some fresh veges as well, zuchini, cucumber and mushrooms seem to be favourites. You will need something to weight them down, but a rubber band and a rock will work. Just drop a piece in, leave it overnight and take out what they dont eat the next day. new2discus
be careful how long you leave vege's in for though, i lost a GBA through bacterial infection after leaving courgette in for too long (only overnight)
Caryl
Whereas I drop cucumber in and leave it for days. They eat the main bit overnight then the skin slowly disintegrates as they nibble at it. Never lost a fish doing this yet.
firenzenz
I cut a stalk of Broccoli down the middle( no head) and leave that in for days without issue as well. It doesn't breakdown mushy as quick as the courgette and my vege plecs hoover it up
HaNs
Pegs work well holding things down
Rozski
I drop a bit of zuchini in, and leave it in till its gone. Hasn't caused problems before, they just eat it away over a few days (doesn't look like its rotting) Also blanch it beforehand, so kind of sterilised, and helps it sink too
Tsarmina
i found mine won't eat the outside of the courgette, so i peel it, blanch it, freeze it and feed it to them as required. they eat the whole lot and leave nothing to clean up. michael.qian
I usually drop in a piece of courgette, leave it overnight and take it out the next morning. Does anyone know how to keep them fresh? We never eat courgettes but when we buy one for the catfish, it won't last until the courgette is finished. I tried cutting it into pieces and freezing them, but when I take it out it goes way too soft after its thawed.
