Hi Aquarium Dude,

How is your tank looking now after a few months with the UV sterilizer? Can u give us an update - did it solve the problem?, and if so how long did it take? Have you had any relapses?

Have had a similar problem myself for a while now and UV sterilizer was suggested as a fix. Have spent the last couple of months trying all the other suggestions, but that green haze just keeps coming back!

well, its perfect. I leave the uv machine in the tank all the time and turn it on when necessary (about 3 days (not nights) in about 3 months), I have got that awsome looking wonderfully clear water you see in pictures of really awsome tanks.

The water never gets bad or anything, I just use the uv to maintain that really clear water.

Definetly worth it...

:D

You must have cured the original problem. Although they are called sterilizers they are realy sanitizers that will give bugs a very hostile environment but the algae will still be present and would come back with a rush and a roar if the conditions were too its liking. The UV has given it a good knock back is all. I have built and used UV lights when keeping cold water marines and they have their uses and problems.
