Milet Posted June 28, 2007 Report Share Posted June 28, 2007 Hey all I've had a big piece of driftwood in my garden for a few months now that was taken straight from sumner beach and ive just noticed it and it would look real nice in my tank. Could i put it in my tank or not? WOuld i have to give it much of a wash down? Im just sick of buying wood and waiting for months for all the tannins to leak. Ianab Posted June 28, 2007 Report Share Posted June 28, 2007 Give it a wash / scrub and sink it in a bucket of water for a few days. Then you can check if anything is going to leach from it. Ira Posted June 28, 2007 Report Share Posted June 28, 2007 Just give it a good hose down to wash any debris off and then you'll need to either wedge it somewhere in the tank to hold it down or weigh it down. Milet Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Share Posted June 28, 2007 Cheers everyone just spent all that time since last post scrubbing it down. quite a bit of green stuff was on it from the garden, but its all gone now and its nearly completly clean. If i just put it in my tank now, and it leeches heaps of tannins, is there anything i can add to remove it? Rather than heaps of water changes? Besides, if it leaches and you decide you don't like it, once removed it won't take long to get the water clear again just with normal maintenance water changes.
