Tank volume

It's 1.46 x 0.64 x 0.62 - 0.32 x 0.32 = 0.476928 cubic meters = 476.928L (not allowing for glass thickness). You really need to use the internal dimensions.

Hi Warren,

Not sure if I'm right on this one as it isn't my area, but isn't it:

1.46 x 0.64 x 0.62 - 0.215 x 0.24 x 0.62

Each front "corner" has a triangle missing thats 24x21.5x32 cm. Two of them makes a 24x21.5 cm rectangle and then add the depth.

I think you are getting closer flatfish...

The corners aren't exactly 45 deg so you have worked out the 'invisible' pieces of the triangle. :hail:

1.46 x 0.64 x 0.62 - 0.215 x 0.24 x 0.62 = .547 = 547 litres.

Of course this is the volume of the tank AND water. Work it out on the inside dimensions and allow for a couple of cm of air at the top and gravel at the bottom.

Cheers

Ian

Its 62(the height) x [[146x64(the large retangle)]-[21.5x24(the missing corners)]]

Therefore

62 x[9344-516]

62 x 8828

=547336 cm3

547 L

* the to missing corners add to become a square 21.5cx24cm which is 146 - 103 divided by 2, and 64 -40
