HummingBird
Could be a type of bacterial infection that gets in under the skin. If it is, furan 2 will cure it.
jim r
If it is gas bubble disease it is caused by the water being supersaturated with oxygen (water holds 140% oxygen it normally holds at that temp.) Normally associated with algal bloom and 'rich' water.
markoshark
How to treat it? i suspect my fish have it, JUST after doing a water change
sharn
marko- sometimes during a w/c some fish get a little bit too enthusiastic about swimming in the fresh water and will sometimes get some of the air bubbles attatched to them. its not usually an issue unless it gets in the gills or something i would guess and should go away after a few minutes
alanmin4304
I do some pretty massive water changes at times but I have never seen bubbles on fish although I have had bubbles on almost everything else. If it is caused by water changes it will be stressng the fish because that will be happening on the gills as well and the fish can "drown". They get their O2 from it being dissolved in the water and the gas bubbles on the gills prevents this oxygenated water from being available to them as I understand it.
