northland chic
I come home from holiday to find my baby guppies have their tails clamped. So tight that at the end they are pointed. They seem to be swimming funny too. None of the other baby fish in their seem to be affected (swordtails&platys). Have just put some Wunder white spot cure in there at the moment. suemack
hi nc - not a good thing to find when you come back from your hols. How many babies have you got in what size tank and how often are you doing w/changes? Did you have someone coming in to feed while you were away on holiday? Had a similar problem when I had too many in too small a tank and got behind with my w/changing routine. sue
Kriber
One of my swordtail fry (3wks old) has its tail fin shaped like a triangle, coming to a pointed tip at its end. I thought this was a mutation, what is this 'clamping' you speak of? Cheers, Kriber
Caryl
When fish are not well kriber they hold their fins close to their body and this is what is meant by clamping. I wonder NC if your babies have grown too big for their tank while you are away and the ammonia levels have risen too much.
northland chic
Will try the water changes, I had forgotten I added more babies before I left a week ago. So will try one each day and see how it goes. Thanks
