David R
How many other people here keep reptiles as well as fish?? We've just purchased three baby bearded dragons! Currently have them housed in an old 3' tank, but will be building a larger purpose-built enclosure soon. If there's enough interest, would the Admin consider adding a 'Reptiles' forum to 'The Specialists Corner' to cover the likes of turtles, newts, dragons, skinks etc?? After all, this is the Aquarium Forum, not just fish!

David R
In habitat males can get up to 2', females a bit smaller, don't normally get quite that big in captivity.

repto
good to see there is a separate reptile forum.nice looking beardies, watch out for dominance and aggression,I see you already have one that is nice and fat and two that look a little thin and hollow?also one has lost the tip of its tail? They can major issues with dominance like this with one getting the best basking spot, most of the food etc etc.if you are not careful it can even end in death. They are real eating machines at this age and it can be a hard job to keep the food up to them.(I have 20 in a tank so know what I amm saying)I have separate housing all ready to go and it is almost time to split them up into ones or twos.Nothing worse than a maimed dragon with a short tail or three legs!good luck with them, they are the best of the reptiles we can get I reckon. David R
good to see there is a separate reptile forum.nice looking beardies, watch out for dominance and aggression,I see you already have one that is nice and fat and two that look a little thin and hollow?also one has lost the tip of its tail? I'm fully aware of the dominance issues, and we're keeping a close eye on them and making sure they're all getting plenty of food (being hand-fed individually, as well as having food on offer during the day). I've just had a close look at all three and can't see any signs of damage to anyones tail. The reason one looks slightly bigger and fatter is because he's a couple of weeks older and was from a seperate clutch (same father different mother). The pics were taken the day we got the second two, they were a little stressed after the move and didnt eat much for the first 24 hours. Now they're eating loads and have fattened up nicely. So far the only arm-waving I've noticed has come from the larger one. Just flicked their light on for a quick photo, who could resist with a cute pose like this!! repto
in your first lot of pics it looked like the tip was bent but must have just been pushed onto the wood? What is your staple diet in the live food line your using?I have been pumping the locusts into them but its hard to keep the stocks up the way they are going, just about big enough for some mealworms so that should ease the pressure. David R
Crickets, (altho our breeding program is still in its early stages, and theyre expensive from bio-supplies) and mealworms, only feeding them ones that have recently shed. Also loving beans, dandilions and the green pellets in the prepared food (won't touch the red or brown ones).
