jayci Posted April 9, 2007 Report Share Posted April 9, 2007 when my guppies are given birth, I often see the female turn around and eat the baby that has just pop out. Anyone got any tips to stop this. I have tried the net breeding traps, guppies seem to stress out in them. Have tried a one foot tank with java moss in it, still only small numbers surviving. Adrienne Posted April 9, 2007 Report Share Posted April 9, 2007 Yes, good idea to have lots of floating plants, the more dense the better. Lots of ground cover plants, in fact plants everywhere. Fry will hide under leaves, stones, behind filters, anywhere. Gives the fry somewhere to hide. Breeding traps sort of work but only if you put mother guppy in right when shes due to give birth and even then she sometimes eats them.
