shadowfax
for my 4 ft tank, ive decided to sell it after finding that dripping water the other day, it hasn't dripped since & i still dont know where it came from. tank size is 120cm long, 59cm wide & approx 52cm high ( i cant lift the hood to get an exact measure)6mm glass & has bracing on the top at both ends & in the middle & all lids. not selling the stand or hood as i want to get a new one made. i'll list it on trade me but would like to know what to set the reserve at, im sure it could be resealed or pulled apart or might not have anything wrong at all but im not laying awake at nite wondering
SpidersWeb
Go to Mitre 10, and get some acetic cure silicone, run a bead up the side you found the drips. If there was a drip problem, there wont be now 8) Your tank is quite a good size at around 368 litres, new I'd expect to pay $400ish, second hand $150-200, second hand with suspected leak $50. If you're going to tell people about the drip, I'd set a $1 reserve, if you're going to keep quiet, then $50 or $100 reserve.
Freakyfish
If your going to sell it anywhere I think you should tell people that it has dripped but stopped Just ruinning a bead of silicon up an edge doesnt always work old silicon and new silicon wont stick to each other better to find the leak and but 2 strips of glass over it and silicon those in Gives it alot of surface area to stick too Brad
Alan
To run a bead as suggested by SpidersWeb. The original bead in the corner should be cleaned off back to the glass, clean that surface, THEN apply the new bead. Your tank is still under suspicion tho and may fail without notice. I'd list it for $50 and let them know that it had a slight leak which has been repaired by an internal bead, then wait for questions to come in. If they don't ask, is it your problem?? Nope.
