shadowfax
if you make something to go in your tank & use silicone, how long do you leave it to cure?? on the tube it has full cure in 72hrs & 7 days for fish tanks, im guessing thats if you are making a tank to leave it that long. im leaving the stuff i made for atleast 3 days but im keen to hear what others do. TM
Most should go off in 24hrs. Have added water that quick. If you want to be really safe a good rule of thumb is about 1mm per day.
alanmin4304
It would depend on how much you use. Most people tend to use too much RTV when making tanks. I have always been prepared to fill a tank next day. If it is very thick it doesn't cure properly in the middle.
evilknieval69
If you dont need somehting stuck fully tight or anything then you can put wet silicone straight into your tank. I have done it before and it was fine. I did it with selleys glass silicon.
sharronpaul
Like Alanmin, I've filled tanks the next day. 24 hours seems about right, as long as the silicon isn't too thick, or very large.
shadowfax
ok, ive made stuff to go in my new tank, tunnels etc, that are covered in a layer of silicone & then stones, just worried if i dont leave them long enough it could harm my fish. just being overly cautious i guess.
Warren
As TM said, 1 day per mm. If your joins are 6mm wide then that 3mm in from each side so 3 days. Anything less is risking the silicone letting go...
