SilverBlade86
She hasnt touched the cucumber at all yet. Will check tomorrow morning if she even ate it. Will start washing and putting in gravel into the tank soon. Should I remove all the fish before putting in the gravel or would they be fine with it? Adrienne
Its quite hard to see if they are eating cucumber, courgette. The most of the time I can't really tell unless I see them on it. You will need to replace the cucumber every day otherwise it will either get mould over it or disintergrate into the tank and into your filter intake. SilverBlade86
How much cucumber do I put in exactly? I feel like I've been putting too much and she barely touches it, I think. Anyways, I'm trying to get a male BN and am about to make a cave. How does quick dry cement work in a tank? Is it safe? Else I'm gonna just get a pot and some silicon glue with some rocks. (saw it somewhere ... on this forum maybe?)
Whiskas
SilverBlade - As far as i understand you will need to let the concrete cure. Same goes with the silicon. As they both can have some kind of toxin release into the water if they aren't cured. I think you do this by washing them a few times in water after they have dried completely. Someone else on here with a bit more experience/knowledge will know more about this My male BN just digs out under his piece of bogwood and makes his own cave, good exercise for him
SilverBlade86
That could do as well. Just dont want him uprooting any future plants I might put in. Thanks for the info.
Adrienne
Yes, making a cave was in this forum I think under DIY. When you feed courgette or cucumber ( I only do courgette) I feed a slice about 1/2cm thick so I can get the toothpick in but remember to take out the left over after a day as it will go mushy in the tank. GZ_Loach
use acid cure silicon, and as for the cucumber etc, you can tell just by looking at it, i have a pleco and he sucks out the middle and leaves the skin behind, think of it has sandpaper on wood. SilverBlade86
Still no signs of her eating it, maybe she does it at night. Anyways, I'm about to make a cave for her and will probably add a male soon after that. Does the female actually need a cave or does only the male use it? If I'm about to make a cave I thought I might as well make a couple more if the female needs one as well. Currently shes hiding somewhere in the driftwood. Dont see her often. :-?
